I fished an Open match run by the Yorkshire tykes Thursday 12th Sorry this is a couple of days late, but the results arrived by snail mail, from all the way up in Yorkshire.
The match was made up of 30 Disabled guys, and some able bodied, you can't say that the disabled discriminate, we'll take anybody's money. Anyway the match was run by an incredibly good looking Tyke called Andrew Archer, I enquired whether I could join the Tykes? Just to get my hands on one of their hats, very smart, with the hint of an American hotdog seller thrown in.
You all looked very smart, Honestly!
Back to the match, we were on Arles pool, a pool I have fished twice before. A water you have to fish regularly to consistently do well, as the fish seem to change their preferences between baits very quickly. And unless you know what their preference is that week you won't win, because by the time you've worked it out, the guy on the next peg who knows, will already have 10Ibs in his net.
In my case it was more like 30Ibs, but I learnt a lot by watching what he was doing, and I can't wait to put it into practice, next time I fish the water.
Thank-you Glen, you left a piece of your meat on the platform, and I've sent it to some top scientists to get it analyzed.
A. LEES 79 - 06
G. ARCHER 60 - 12

K. RENSHAW 27 - 12
V. CUTTS 24 - 14
A. ARCHER 24 - 00
P. SIMPSON 23 - 04

Hi Dirk and everyone else,

It was a good match which I enjoyed catching a few fish (for a change). I had never fished Arles before and was expecting an hard
match from what Andrew had told me and what J. Dickens had done from
peg 4 on the NFA final.

I am assuming you don't know anyone in the scientific branch of Boots or whatever anyway.

Just to put the record straight here Dirk, I use four different types
of bait flavouring on my meat, all with specific conditions in mind.
Just bear in mind that it has taken me two years plus to find the right combination of flavours, etc (the carp boys call these food sources).

One contains a fair amount of garlic! and red colouring.
One contains a good amount of fishmeal derivitive and a well known
flavouring on the match circuit.
One contains high protein and amino acids (liver extract, etc).
The other contains a yellow colouring and has a seafood type smell.

I am not going to divulge what each one is, but just to say that each
is more effective in certain weather conditions, and its upto each
individual angler to put the time and effort into finding out which baits work best.

Basically, in warm conditions then meat is the number one bait.
In changeable or cooler weather then you can't beat smaller baits like
worm or castors.

Even with all this knowledge it still wasn't enough to win the match
though was it.

Well done to the winner.

See you all at the BDA final (I am helping Andrew).

All the best,

Glenn Archer.

Welcome Glen to Maggot Drowning, look forward to seeing you at the final. That bit of meat I found was the Yellow one, Andrew never leaves any lying around.
Maybe you'll leave a different flavour next time?

Hi Dirk and everyone,

This might come as a shock to you Dirk, but I didn't take any
yellow meat with me to Woodland View!!!
I fished with the red meat!!!! and sweet corn.

So whatever you found I would disregard it.

Like the site, could do with some high profile anglers to back it up,
such as Giles Cochrane, Steve Ringer, etc.

Going for a practice at Woodland View this Sunday.
Don't know what lakes are being used yet.

Keep bagging, See you.

Glenn.

GLEN!! YOUR WRONG ABOUT NOT HAVING HIGH PROFILE ANGLERS,
YOU'VE OBVEOUSLY NOT HEARED OF MALC DOYLE, AND HIS BROTHER (RED)DOYLE.
YOU CAN'T GET MORE HIGH PROFILE THAN THOSE GUYS!
WE DON'T NEED ANY OTHERS,
DO WE DROWNERS????

I know what you mean Brian, What I want to know is, when is young Dirkie Doyle going to arrive???? you've got to agree Malc it's certainly got a ring to it. sounds like a film star.
What do you think Brian? Even Dirket Doyle works for me, could be a pop singer.
I hope you pass my ideas on to Mrs Doyle Malc.
