Ive thought about trying some food items I give to my pets for fishing and wondered if they would be any good? Things like crickets, locusts and mealworms (all live). Wasnt sure but thought a live locust kicking about on the surface would get the carp interested and be a good bait their not used to seeing. What do you reckon?

I was thinking just the very same thing while feeding my BTS earlier.

I think crickets would work but they would soon stop wriggling in cold water.
I bet mealies and morio worms would work a treat.

Them moth lava look like wasp grub, that's gotta be a winner.

A lot of matches ban wasp grub, bet they would be stumped if you turned up with a load of reptile food. LOL

It has to work.
Natural baits, live baits, moving baits, can't go wrong.
Just have a look on the surface of rivers in the evening when when flies are hatching.

Give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

Oh and while I'm here, what are you feeding your bugs to?

similar to another thread. the general consensus on here is that mealworms are cr*p. but give them a go and report back to us. it would be nice to be proved wrong, then we can add them to the list of baits we use!!!
