It's getting round to the time to replace line on my winter pole rigs and I have been thinking about line diameter. For my summer rigs I have been using 015 for open water/far bank and 0.19 for margin rigs. Conventional wisdom for Winter rigs seems to be a 013 mainline for open water/far bank and 0.17 mm for margins, although I am seriously wondering if 0.2 mm will make all that much difference ? I use Guru N gauge which is I believe fairly accurate.

My Summer rigs are all on 0.17 main with 0.13/0.17 hooklengths. Winter that becomes 0.13 main, 0.10/0.13 hooklength.

In part the thinner diameter (0.10) is because I am stepping down a hooksize from a B611 16 to 18 in Winter. The thinner line feels more balanced.
