Just in case anyone else has had this problem, both my laptops have been running hot in windows 10.
I've tried a few things, to no avail, then came along some videos on youtube about turning the processor down a bit. And for me it's worked on both machines. By just turning them down to 95% the processor temp has dropped from hitting 90 degrees plus regularly to maxing out at about 70 degrees, and I cant say I've noticed the difference in terms of speed.
If you're having the same problem, it might be worth a go.
Right click on the windows icon (bottom left).
Select 'Power Options'
Click 'Change plan settings' for your active scheme
Click 'Change advanced power settings'
Scroll down to 'processor power management'
Expand and select 'Maximum processor state'
Change to 95% for 'On battery' and 'Plugged in'
Click Ok and reboot to implement the changes
I cant promise it'll work for everyone, but it sure worked for me.
