Personally Ian i'd say forget the whip and use a pole with lacy.

It's all to easy to hook and lose the bonus fish with a whip, i stopped using my whips 2 years ago because of just that reason.

Just my opinion though.

hi
it all depends on what /where your going to use it
i have both types the cheap tele`s & the diawa harrier whips
if im on a canal/drainthen 8 out of 10 times ill settle for tele`s but if i know theres going to be a bit of flow then ill use a take apart so that i can add sections on to run through
if i was only going to take one whip with me it would have to be take apart as they are more versatile.
as for losing bous fish ive actualy landed a pike 5-06 on a diawa whip with a carbon flick tip & 1.7lb 0.08mm hooklength(it was hooked in lip)

tight lines.
