which hook

been having a chat with a few fellow canal heads n we have been debating the best general hook for canal fishing. i have been using the B511 think its a great hook. was just wondering what others had to say ???[:T]

Got to be the Tubertini series 2 or the 2T for general work glad to see it's still about after all these years found some Ignesti series 1 & 2 as I was looking thought the box the other day the series 1 was a great B/Worm hook for caster work the old kamasan B560's still got three boxes of those [] also found some Gamakatsu 6315's that survived great for B/punch.

tbh depends what your fishing. i used to use B511's in tiny sizes up to a 24 on the canals i never went wrong with them!

gotta admit the tubertini 2T was the best caster hook ever after running out not long back tried the new 2T dont feel its the same.

tubertini series 2 for silvers (small baits), series 18 for perch and skimmers etc (bigger baits).

For small fish, I would use a Tubertini 1m or Kamasan B590.
I've never got on with B511's, too springy and last time I tried, they all had rough spades and cut through the hooklengths.

B520s for me, same as B511s but with a microbarb. My favourite silverfish hook and then anything heavier is a Drennan Wide Gape

For squatts I don't think you can beat the Fox MP1 that used to be the Image IM-1.

yea the IM 1 is the best hook 4 squatts
but we just cant seem to agree on a good summer hook looking for roach n skimmers on maggot

For the "bits" i always use a kamasan B590 but finding them is getting harder and harder. For general size cut fish the tubertini 2 or 2t gets a second from me[:T]

i use Kamasan B511 and B611, never had a problem with them.

For years as far I can remember,I've been using the 511 in winter and 611 in summer for the canals.But the last couple years,when the going is hard,I use the PR30 and PR35,depends on what bait I'm using [:T]

Quite right about B511 hooks cutting the line, I threw mine out years ago.

Only one hook for me as stated above Tubertini series 2 (by the way never liked the 2T series)

i have had nothing but trouble with the mp1's in size 22, snapping up the shank, snapping on the bend etc but in 24's they are perfect along with the old pr31's. for maggots etc all i use is b511's and pr30's

any recomendations for a hemp hook??

Gamakatsu Green, great for bloodworm, squatt,pinkie and maggot, if you require slightly stronger hook Gamakatsu black is the one.

Started using the Sensas 3405 hook for maggot, Pinkie, Caster and Chopped Worm and never looked back. Gamma Green in the Winter for Bloodworm!!!
B611 for the Bigger fish.
