Whats going on for goodness sake?

Guys before anyone says each to their own, or we all have free choice I'll tell you a tale and its true. If you go over the Trent at the A1 pits part you can see for yourself, as since 16th came and past a guy is fishing the river with only what I can say is the kitchen sink.

He has what looks like a caravan, awning and bevy set up. It looks like nothing I've seen before honest, and is really taking the mick I feel. I know folk camp out now for barbel, but what is it really all coming too. I understand a thread done just this week on not understanding fishing for barbel, right now it makes good sense to me. One chap on here said he did 3 long trips blanked and then had a cracker, traveled a long way to, that's what its about, not sitting on one river peg all week. I despair what angling is coming to I really do, catch at all cost. What about a bit of respect for the farmer, wildlife and others? I know I'll get slated, but hay?

Did see a near identical set up to that on Thames today but I think that was for carp. Fair enough really as it’s one of the few stretches around here that does produce river carp with any sort of regularity but you apparently do have to put a lot of time in. Did look a bit funny seeing such a carpy set up on the Thames but they do catch them whilst no one else even flukes them so it probably is necessary.

Sorry, as I can't see any difference between that and sitting in a bivvy for days on end, or booking into a lodge on a commercial. All the bloke is doing is fishing all day (or all night). Wish I could do the same.

I can't see that there's anything good about having several blanks and then one good trip. Yes, it's catch at all costs for that person in the caravan - what's wrong with that? You have no idea of his circumstances - he might have been told he has only days to live.

Fishing is fishing, however we choose to do it.

Does it really matter? It clearly isn’t an issue to the owner of the stretch and I believe it’s quite a common sight to see vans or campers down by the lakeside at A1 pits.

Ive lost count of the amount of posts I’ve seen lately slagging off or putting down other anglers for the way they choose to fish and it’s getting boring very quickly.

Too many people get upset about what others do, and how they enjoy their fishing, when it doesn’t really need to concern them

It concerns people who want to fish somewhere and find that all the swims have bivvys in.
You don't expect that by a river.
They will be there for weeks as there will be multiple occupants coming and going /sharing.

You'll always get it though and historically it's generally where Carp, Barbel, and other specialist aspects of the sport exist

Mate the Novelty wears off faster than ya think, in 2 week it will be like Hit and miss, but you'll still get a peg even at weekends.

Tbh I won’t go in a campervan unless I’m going in one to go fishing so guess I’m “one of them” lol
