Does anyone know where the closest rivers containing coarse fish to the Swansea/Neath area are?
Thanks

Thanks CarpBob but all the rivers are game fishing rivers and unsure whether people fish any of them for coarse fish or if there is any coarse fish in them - so anyone else know where the closest river(s) is?

River Taffe, Cardiff.

River Tawe does have coarse fish in, but fluff chuckers only.

What about the Wye, that still goes through Wales don't it?? The river Usk, maybe. I know they're not that near, but they're not that far away. About an hour in the car.

We have been working on the EA for years to allow fishing in the R.Tawe. Unfortunately there is a maggot ban on it which the ground landlords are unwilling to resind. However we're not beaten yet. You can actually coarse fish the Lower Tawe but the above ban applies. The Tawe has a good head of dace in it plus roach, carp and the odd chub. Quite frankly because there has never been a serious prolonged attempt to fish it or even net it, actual stocks of coarse fish can only be guessed at.
However we will keep chipping away at bureaucracy to get something done eventually.
