Theres a nasty worm going around infecting all users called W32 blasterworm as from yesterday (August 11th).
It shuts your computer down and also affects system restore and access to windows updates.
Microsoft call it "critical".
Go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcentre/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html
and look for a tool provided by symantec to remove the bugger!
It will then ask you to download and install a patch from microsoft.
I reccomend you all do this A>S>A>P !!!!!!!!!!

This is the problem I had with the remote procedure call. Make sure to download the relevant microsoft update patch then you won't get the worm. Then get rid of the worm using
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixBlast.exe
So far this has worked for me.

I cut and pasted the original link from another site if that one didn't work try the one I have changed it to now.

This is the same issue as in the "urgent warning" sticky thread at the top. Problem is, there are at least a half-dozen names for this same critter.
