Venue advice

Ok guys I have next week off and after promising to do some D"$%"$%g have been allowed to go off for a couple of days to fish. Now like many I've never caught a barble and aim to try. So I need some advice on where to go. I live in north London and am willing to travel a 3-4 hours for a good place. If theres also a chance of raising my Chub Pb (a wimpy 2.5Lb) that would also be a bonus. So guys a few suggestions on where to go would be appreciated.

Kings Weir Fishery, Wormley, Hertfordshire wouldn't be a bad start.

If your off for a couple of days maybe somewhere futher afield such as the trent or severn? I don't have a clue about where on either of these rivers though sure lots of people here do though.

It was further afield I was thinking of, ok I'll narrow it down, as the scale of the question had obviously overwhelmed everyone. I've decided on the severn, could anyone give a little help as to where I should head for (nearest town), obviously day ticket stretches are needed. Somewhere with decent local pub and b&b's would be most welcome.

Yopu could always try the Thames or the Loddon.
