I think that he diminishes his argument by use of that language, as well as using a potentially biased sample (Chairperson, CEO and CFO of FTSE 100) to illustrate his point.

Do I think ethnic minorities are underrepresented on big corporate boards in UK? Probably ... but a wider data set would help (whole board and FTSE 250 perhaps)
Is there still a gender pay gap between men and women at the same level in large organisations? Yes, although the public data does hide this.

Whats the best way to reach that equality - start at the top or the bottom? to my mind the policy needs to have buy in at the top, but has to start at the bottom to be sustainable.
But doing it that way it takes a long time to fully realise.

And it actually starts in primary education!

Perhaps that is what is really happening ...
