The first fishing trip in many years went according to plan, not fished this venue before so it was all new to me.

Fished the right hand pool as you walk from the road, about 50 yds along the roadside bank.
Didn't need to go much beyond 5mtrs, on the bottom or just off, soft hookers, with 4mm red pellet little and often over the top.

No keep nets allowed, but I bagged 3 small skimmers and 8 carp various species, Mirrors and Commons mainly. Disappointing to see a couple of them with deformed mouths, so some people must be using barbed hooks, apart from that the fish were in good condition.

A good afternoons sport with my son and his mate.
Can't wait to go again.

Sounds like a good start so well done! Always a shame to see the deformed mouths. I think it's down to how many times they get caught and heavy handed anglers. Some venues near me are really bad for it, and it's rare to catch a fish without a deformity there.
