I have been thinking of getting a van for a project coming up, just a standard body transit or similar, but I have just noticed this in the local classified ads

Crew cab, Luton body LWB Transit. 500Kg tail lift 186,000 miles
€1,600.

To be honest, I don't really need the tail lift, it might be useful once in a blue moon.

It is quite a distance away so going to view isn't easy and somehow it sounds a bit cheap.
What do you van experts think?

If its a luton, you are gonna notice the fuel un-economy

its like driving a brick re slipstream

plus it sounds like a 3.5 gvw and is subject to different MOT rules

Good point Re: the MOT rules Mick. It looks like it is still on UK plates, so unlikely to have a current MOT and I can't transfer it to French plates without having one. It may also be subject to different requirements here in France. We have to have a MOT equivalent for trailers in some cases, so I would be surprised if they don't have something special for a goods vehicle.
Looks like too much trouble, so I will give it a swerve and by a French. Much simpler, but more expensive.
