Tomala RiverFest Final 2019

Sixty anglers descended on The River Avon from Newbridge to Salford for the ninth round of RiverFest 2019. They were met with rather miserable conditions although some were hopeful that the rain might spur on the resident bream.

It was RAF angler Richie Tomala flying high In A section, catching a quality net of roach and bonus 1lb chub for 18lb 12oz and the overall win. These were all taken on the pole, fishing caster to pick off the better fish.

B Section winner off favoured peg 50 was Ben Randall and although the bream weights didn’t show this year, Ben put 7lb 14ozs on the scales, which consisted of two skimmers on the feeder and further silvers on the pole.

Deron Harper took the final qualification spot in C zone with 10lb 8oz. A last gasp 4lb chub on the tip gave him his golden ticket, along with perch and chublets on caster.

RESULTS:

1. Richie Tomala - 18lbs 12ozs
2. Clive Branson - 12lbs 14ozs
3. Deron Harper - 10lbs 8ozs
4. Kevin Millard - 9lbs 2ozs
5. Ian Winter - 8lbs 8ozs
6. Ben Rendall - 7lbs 14ozs

QUALIFIERS:

Richie Tomala, Deron Harper, Ben Rendall

Next Qualifier: August 3rd, River Tees- Yarm and Bowesfield.

After reading Dave Harrells facebook report it sounds as though some of the pegs hadn't been cleared or indeed fished since the season opened.
Such a shame for competing anglers who have spent a lot of time and money to turn up and be greeted with that

I know its the luck of the draw and all that but the least the host club could have done was checked the pegs beforehand
Well done to the qualifiers though and good luck at Shrewsbury
