Does anyone know if the Samlesbury day ticket allows you to fish both sides of the river and how do you get to the right bank if it does. What is this stretch like, past form etc ? (particularly for barbel).
Thanks

Skag fishing excellent on this stretch. Best baits are elderberries and cheese. Barbel not too prolific but Chub and Skag give good sport.
Get a ticket from the garage next to the TT Hotel and ask them there.

Hi Essox,
What baits best for skag. I asked at the tackle shop but they looked at me like I was on drugs.?????

I think we've deviated a little here. Back to the original question, does anyone know the form of this stretch in the past year or so.
Cheers

hiya jeremy, in a word, "patchy" one day plenty of chub, next day.....same swim and tactics......blank....the next a couple of barbel.

due to other commitments i have only fished during the day time and have had a mixed year on there.

if you can, try and fish into the first hour or so of darkness.

if you persist, the rewards can be fantastic.

if you require any more onfo then just send me a p.m.

later

ray.

p.s. the fishing is improving constantly and is getting back to the way it was before the "birdies" took over.

prepare your meat at home and bin the tin.

The EA are supposed to be introducing Skag into the venue this year, so that can only be good news!

Probably short for Skagasurtla (Icelandic fish - Linophryne algibarbata).

He just drove further north than he thought for that trip. Or maybe mistook his hemp for a snack.

I think your making that up, Newt. This will take you to the real Skag.
