I remember a Fishomania Final at Doncaster once, and we left just after the Presentation, there was an almighty storm, thunder Lightning and Rain like ive never seen before, i said to Jnr if that had have came a couple of Hours Earlier im sure the final might have been cut short. It might have been the one Mark Jones won.

Sudden thunderstorms can quickly deplete a stillwater of oxygen.
The ultra cooled close to freezing rain or hail stones carry less oxygen (or even none) than water molecules in the lake.
Hence the oxygen present equally spreads out between water molecules as cold water merges with warm water.
The sudden water drop can also kill algae causing Eutrophication as micro organisms feast on the dead algae but at same time burn up the already depleted oxygen from water molecules.
