Remember going to Woolies in Orpington High street (War memorial end) and marvelling over their gear I couldn't afford! Happy days.:giggle:

I still have one of these reels in working order. Picked it up in a charity shop some years ago. I think I have one of the Winfield young angler rods also. Its brown in colour, maybe six feet in length, gathering dust in my parents attic from when I was younger.

Had a green fibre glass jobbie (6 possibly 7 foot) sliding real fittings from Woolies circa '68

Did anyone have a rod made from a WW2 tank aerial?
They had the response time of the local constabulary?
My dad has. It was my grandads. I think it's up in his loft somewhere. There's a wicker basket up there with my grandads old tartan flask in it he used to take. Oh the good owd days. ?

Oh yeah, definitely! I caught a fair few fish on mine. Always remember one time reeling a roach in when a pike grabbed it, rod literally doubled over for a brief few seconds before it bit the line.

I said it before on here Mick....Still give my dear old Dads (RIP) glass fibre rod a run out once a year, (still in near on perfect condition) just for old times sake....Daft really, just so many happy hours spent with him learning the ropes etc etc. :)

Nothing wrong with using old tackle. As Ive always said the fish don't know what rod, reel etc you have.
