According to that I've been to both Wakefield and Leeds. How wrong that is, I've only been down to the next village.

It's not that accurate. According to them I've been to both Newport (Monmouthshire) and Swindon to-day.
I haven't been outside Southwater all day long.

Information is the most important commodity in the world, can be bought and sold and all without you knowing a thing about it.... maybe we the public should charge royalties regarding our own info....???? I went through my phone apps a while back and shut off info sharing permissions on most of my apps...

If someone wants to track my movements that’s perfectly fine by me, but there are far more interesting and richer people to stalk/exploit.

If you've got nothing to hide I don't really see the problem with it. As long as your money's safe whether someone knows where you spend it or where you go shouldn't really matter.

Interesting article in the DM today:

This is the main reason I'm not on any of the classical social media sites - nothing where I have to use my real name and provide updates and check-ins about where I am. I'm also careful not to mention whether I'm away for work, holidays etc, or going out for the night. At best you're setting yourself up for targeted adverts at worst your feeding the stalkers... not to mention the security services.

Geographical tracking via smartphone is a very complicated area and one I've been involved in, generally you have little to fear if it's done properly, but it can become a bit of a minefield if implemented badly.

Some household insurance policies are now writing into the conditions that you will not be covered for theft if you post on social media your holiday plans, something to bear in mind.

It seems public privacy and freedom is being stripped away at an alarming rate and most people are buying into the idea it is for our safety and well being. I have always considered the money I earn and the home I own to be my private domain where I can do and buy that which I choose without third parties watching on.
Technology has cornered the market on surveilence and nearly everything we do is watched and recorded all for pleasure of mindless drivel on forums ( present company accepted), limitless porn and the endless misery of the constant one upmanship of social media.
The real beneficiaries of the smart revolution are governments and international NGO,s that are increasingly controling our lives and climate change will be the driver to bring an end to all privacy and freedom.
