The omicron variant has peaked in South Africa with very low death rates. With up to 90% of the population having had covid or vaccines they are removing all restrictions and the need to isolate. All track and tracing to end as its now considered endemic. People are being asked to manage the illness as they would flu and return to work if they feel well enough. Only being asked to stay off work if very ill. This has been predicted as a possible outcome from this milder variant. Let's hope this is the path the UK will follow over the next few weeks. We have to stop the mass isolating and live with this virus as soon as possible. Our NHS is only struggling because large numbers of staff are having to isolate even though they are well enough in themselves to work and not from massive numbers of Covid patients. It's the same in all sectors and people with mild cold like symptoms having to stay at home. Hopefully this is good news at last.

The question is - would you trust a country that has a corrupt government such as SA to report anything accurately?

Hopefully it's accurate and our figures are similar. We have to start living our lives again, it's here to stay so let's live with it.
