The best line for Trotting the River

I don't fish the Thames, was just making the point that where I do fish, on the Severn, requires a heavier line because you stand a good chance of Chub and Barbel. And I'd prefer to use Float Max over Sensor or Maxima when it comes to those heavier lines. Sorry for confusion! 0.10 or 0.12 sounds right for the Thames but is too light for the Severn for me.

No confusion ,often 0.12mm is the lowest I would go on the Severn,if barbel are expected 0.14mm would be the minimum,preferably 0.16mm,obviously this is float fishing,lead fishing would be much heavier...
