I had a near 3lb perch today on whip fishing tares, unusual or a new method?.
Thoughts please.....

That's a new one on me, I've had small ones on corn so shows anything's possible. TBH I'm not sure that I could for certain say I've ever caught any other species other than roach on tares. I've probably had the odd rudd, dace, skimmer and chublet on them but not that I can recall for sure.

I've had roach, chub and bleak on Tares but never perch.

Roach, Rudd, hybrids but, never perch. That is unusual. Well done on catching a nice perch though. ?

I had a perch over two pounds on a loch in Scotland on corn but to land a perch that size on a whip is good

Carp, the bloody things love hemp and tare

the 3lb perch is unusual enough to set it apart,

I've had mostly roach on tares but also plenty of dace, chub, carp, tench, odd bream, silver bream ("hybrids"!), gudgeon, bleak, rudd and just one perch.

Caught several Perch on bread punch another bait you would not think of for Perch but I suppose its still food if they are hungry.

I had a small Perch on 5mm cube of meat which was a surprise.

Have had quite a few perch on meat

It would have snapped at bait (or rather sucked in) as it went past out of reflex action.
Had them on corn - by accident.
A lad had a Tench on a jig the other week - again, jig sucked in out of reflex rather than a feeding fish.

I caught a perch on tares in my last session whip fishing on the Trent. First for me too

Had a barbel on tares fishing Bobs island. Also had a 6lb tench on the bargate drain on them. Well done on the perch....great fish on any bait.
