Took the new lure rod HTO Rockfish Revolution for another outing yesterday.
After trying various jjgs, drop shotting, spinners and spoons with a few hits but no hook ups, I jigged a 5 gram perch pattern shad in deep water with big flicks of tbe wrist to make the jig bounce up high to try and get the Perchs attention.
Felt a bang, struck and the rod arched over into its full curve, clutch started singing and in my mind I know its a big fish - I can picture my self on frontman page of AT with a monster, possibly even a record Perch:
An unusual lure catch but I can tell you that a young lad fishing with his Grandad has also caught a Tench on a hard lure (tiny little yellow thing) a few months back from same water and I think its the same fish.
I have now caught this particular Tench on slider/sweetcorn, waggler/chickpea, waggler/6mm pellet, method/pellet, method/wafter, lead/boilie, jig - this year, its average weight is 5lb.
