The 'SULFNBK.exe' fake virus is doing the rounds again. It basically is an e-mail that you may get from your friend or colleague warning you that they have found it on their system and chances are it is on yours. If so delete it - DON'T

It was one that 'Got' me a little while back and came as an attachment 'SULFNBK.exe'.
Never open an attached file with the sffix .exe.
Having deleted the attachment, I checked the hard-drive of this PC and sure enough found the same file. Remembering a warning that went out a bit back regarding this file, I thought that the PC had been 'got' so before deleting it, a good ploy which is used often before deleting files is to rename them so they become ineffective >> right click file>rename>newname SULFNBK1.exe. This isolates the file, which I did this time.
A quick check with Symantec and it turns out the virus was a hoax and the file on the PC was part of the operating system so it was just a quick rename again.
The attachment was meant to overwrite the PC's file.

Read this:: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/sulfnbk.exe.warning.html

'SULFNBK.exe' is a genuine Windows file and is used for identifying long file addresses, it is on your system for such a purpose and does not need deleting.

Dave - maybe you can help.

I am somewhat computer impared and want very much to send out a virus that I have made. Just can't quite figure out how.

Would you please pass a copy of this request along to everyone in your address book and then delete all the files on your C: drive?

Thank you so much.

Anything to oblige Newt,

I'm in the middle of dinner at the moment though so would you mind if I deleted the files first and then sent the emails icon_smile_big.gif
