Strange bait

Come on then, our mate Newt says you can use Cherry Tomatoes to catch Grass Carp [:0] sounds very logical now he has said it.

What is the strangest bait you regularly use [?]

Here are a few of mine

Hot dog sausages
Marmite on bread
Bovril Paste
Treacle as an additive

I'll stop now, how about you [?]

Years ago, i used to have a bit of success using cockles for carp[8D]

Carp love Marmite. I have used it spread on the bread before using a large breadpunch. Beat plain bread hands down.

to catch your leeches... when you get to the pond or lake roll your sleeve up lay on the bank & stick your arm in the water and fish round for a brick or stone lift it out and stuck to the brick should be some leeches,[]

not done it for a good few years, things you do as a lad to catch a fish! no computer games them days,[]

Dave - if you use the white/golden ones and soak them in tepid water with just a tiny pinch of yeast added, they will swell up to nearly original size, get fairly firm, and best of all, ferment so they give off the nicest odors/smells/whatever fish use.

Takes 2-4 days to have them get just right. At that point, drain and rinse well with water then drain again and put in the fridge. They will stay good for nearly a week that way.

There is every chance the water they fermented in would do well for mixing bait as well. Never tried that.
