Time to get your diaries out and fill in the 6th/7th/8th September for Stoneys Fish-in at Yateley in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Tickets are the same ridiculously cheap price as last year at 20.00 for adults and 10.00 for accompanied under 16s which other world famous lakes could you fish for 2-3 days at such a low price?

Last year just over 11,000 was raised, and obviously we would like to beat that figure this year, so we need as many people as possible to get out and about with their sponsorship forms. If we can raise over 11,000 this year, the total amount raised by Stoney and Friends for Macmillan will exceed 50,000

50,000 will be a huge achievement, and if we manage it, will hopefully get good press reports both in the angling and national press. In view of this, if anyone who reads this works for a company that has a budget for sponsorship or marketing, how about suggesting this event to them as a worthwhile cause to back. Not only would it be something different for them, but it could be a very cheap way to gain some free publicity. Ideas for corporate sponsorship can be found on www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk under sponsorship opportunities.

The application form will be available on www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk from 17th June.

Please help to keep this thread in the limelight by posting if you hope to attend, or posting if you have any ideas on sponsorship opportunities or anything else constructive on the event.

Chris

this trip is one well worth making fellas.

I've just had my application form from old anall stoney, only problem for us this time is me finding the time to get away from work.

If any of you fancy a "reel" laugh try ringing the old fella about 3am like i did , all you can hear is "ouch, bang, soddit, where am i?" then you'll hear "Hello Alan Stone speaking" icon_smile_big.gif

Have any of you got the slightest idea how hard it is driving a tranny mini bus with a full load & a caravan behind it when you've got tears of laughter running down your face??.

Oh & just to let you all know ..i rang him cos we couldn't find the place & it turns out i was parked at the next gate up from where he was icon_smile.gifG'wan peeps make the trip you won't regret it,,,,,,well not unless Daves in the next bivvy or you're motors within running distance of the Mc lads icon_smile_wink.gif

A lot of interest has been shown this year, but there are still some places left, so if you fancy a great weekend, in good company, raising money for a great cause, and even possibly catching a fish or two, then visit www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk and get your application in asap.

Hope to see loads of you there.

For any of you who don't know much about this event, or think it is just a Carp event, let me put your mind at rest.

Yateley is an all round fishery with something for everyone, be it tiddler bashing, tench, bream, roach, cats, eels, crucians etc. In all cases there are specimens of every usual lake species.

so if you fancy a weekends fishing in idylic surroundings, with great company, a good social, and most importantly, raising some money for Macmillan cancer Relief, then this is the weekend for you.

If anyone wants more info or has any reservations, please feel free to contact me.

Just to let you know that we now have 60 people signed up, and still have 9 weeks to go. Ideally we want around the 100 mark to give us a chance of raising the money we need to break the 50,000 barrier.
Please spread the message around to anyone you know who might be interested in the event, but may not have access to the web.

Thanks

Hot of the press from the RMC site

"Ian Welch has kindly given us the Copse Lake to use, for the event, as far as we know there are only 8 swims on there, so if you fancy a weekend fishing for bream, this is the one for you."

If anyone wants to fish this lake, when you apply, just write the lake name on the application form.

A couple of questions:

What is the situation as regards staying overnight for the Friday and Saturday?

Does fishing continue through the night (assuming you can stay awake that long - I'm not sure I can)?

Thanks

Fishing is for the whole weekend, including the nights. Most people bivvy up in their swims. If you are not into night fishing, you can still camp in your swim, or alternatively sleep in the car or a local b&b/hotel.

You do not have to stay awake for the whole period. The only rule is that you have to be in control of your rods, which means that whenever they are in the water you shouldn't be more than a few meters from them, and if sleeping, you obviously need an audible bite detection system.

69 tickets have now been sold. Last year we had 104 people there, and would like to try and beat that number this year.

So, any help in recruiting a few more people would be well received. Pass the message around and lets see if we can get a few more people.

Don't forget, it's not just a specialists weekend, as there's something for everybody at Yateley, plus the social is great, and it's all for a worthwhile cause.

As a matter of interest, how many people from this site are not attending, and other than work/previous commitments/distance, are they any specific reasons that put you off from attending.

Only asking, as it's good to get constructive comments from people, especially if it results in us getting more people to attend future events.

73 Tickets now sold and only 5 weeks to go. As previously mentioned, we would like over 100 people there, so any help anyone can give in persuading friends etc to come along would be much appreciated.

74 Tickets have now been sold. As previously mentioned, we would ideally like 100+ people there.

It's only four weeks to go, so if you fancy coming and haven't applied yet, visit www.stoneyandfriends.co.uk for your application form.

If you are coming, why not see if you can persuade someone else to join you. It makes the social even better, helps spread the cost of petrol etc, and more importantly, helps raise more for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Hope to see loads of you there.

The weekend of the Yateley bash I will be in Nottingham assisting Skylarks.

I find, from experience, one cannot be in two places at once.

Apart from that, it is too close to the Elvington Fish-In to ask people for more sponsorship
