i dont know if this has been asked for before or even if it is possible.

but is there any way you could put a spell checker on the forum.

it would save a lot of people like me embarrassment.

cheers mate

Trev,

Why should we not have multi lingual one, after all we have many contributors from around the world and the UK?

I wonder if it could cope with Eglwys Fach - that were I caught my first fish

Hi Norm,

It was an idea that we looked at some time back but the only ones that I could find as a 'bolt on' package were American and only worked as a cross checker rather than a complete spell check.

There is a free Word Dictionary available which can be added to your taskbar at the side of your Start Button. This is very good and one I use myself for checking those words that your just not sure about.

There is a link to it in the Freebies section or you can download it directly from here: http://wordweb.info/cgi-bin/UK/wordweb.exe

Regards, Dave

Oh and as a side nobody should feel embarrased by the way they spell on a forum. There are that many variables involved from thought to screen that with the best will in the world no-one can be word purfect.

You think>you type>you read>you post>you re-read and it's there staring you in the face. Its not the fault of the speller it's cause theres too many keys on the key board and there too close together and not in alphabetical <<needed check for that, order.

Who's idea was qwerty anyway?

When typewriters were mechanical and the letters were at the end of long metal arms, the idea was to be able to type and not have the keys/arms jam together.

QWERTY is simply a letter spacing that allows the frequently used letters to be far apart on the arms. Less jams.

Straight Alpha wouldn't be so easy either. Placement is rotten. The Dvorak Keyboard has the best placement for modern systems but so many of us grew up on QWERTY that it has never really taken hold.
