I quite often catch fish with a bit of damage to them, must have a knack to it, had a Bream the other days with 'blister' type marks all down its flank. But was just thinking back to this black tailed Barbel I caught, think it was around 6lb, my dad was there when I had an unexpected bite that really wrapped the tip round and was one of the hardest fighting Barbel I've played. I exclaimed to my Dad, "big fish on!", when it turned out to be this.

Any fish you've caught with bizzare wounds?

Usually I put it down to 'spawning damage' but I think the above roach must have came cropper to a Pike during its younger years?

Seen it loads on Skimmers mainly on a lake I used to fish.
Even seen one with a hole straight thru it that had fully healed but left a hole.

I joked when I caught it that it was the 2oz of 2lb as it weighed 1lb 14oz. 😅
