Fear not I have taken the plunge and today is a rare excursion to beat the Lower.
River is over 2m up, rising with a steady flow and a lot of large debris travelling through.
Nobody else on the river yet and not many options.
Been here an hour on one of my favoured pegs and sat above the lower platform which is well under water.

No risk ,no reward and mission achieved.
Large 4oz cage feeder packed with sticky method mix, damp pellets ,hemp and dead maggots.
Large lump of Bacon Grill on a size four on a two foot 7lb Reflo Power hook length.

Just above the bridge mate.
Only my eighth Barbel of the season in 12 sessions and apart from the odd large fish (not to me) they have been very absent in numbers again this season.

Sun is now out and you can see in the margin just how much silt is suspended in the river.
Only one recognisable bite until 20 mins ago and after a very splashy fight number two has graced the net.
Same rod but double 12mm Sonu Spicey Sausage pellet.
Apologies for not using the mat but I am sat on it. 🙂

Is there an accepted definition of the lower, middle and upper sections of the river?

Good question 🤔

I’ve always considered the middle to start at Shrewsbury and end at stourport but have heard Worcester described as the start of the lower as well.

We have always classed the Lower as starting at Worcester and especially Diglis weir which is the start of the Worcester to Birmingham canal.

River was around 1.5m high and all the pegs were underwater. Got the peg I wanted just before the bend at the Danery but didn't catch anything. Had one bite early on meat then nothing. It's a reminder for me that commercials soon beckon.

Nah forecast looks pretty dry for a couple weeks by midweek so should be good for a month or so yet. Well fingers crossed 🤞🏻
I'll probably get out on the Severn a few more times, have just ordered some Hybrid Feeders though.
@Zerkalo conditions are mint mate, just bumped 2, 2nd fish in the net 9lb 5oz.

Well done mate. Are you on the deep pegs at Arley? I don't recognise it.

No mate, pegs were occupied, on a shallower bit fishing on the nearside.
