If it's a 5 hour match it usually takes me 4 hours, well that's the excuse I am using for not filling a net. :D:D

Seriously though I can be setup in an hour give or take for a match, Hour and half if plumbing up and groundbait / pellet prep required.

Bloody ages over an hour normally, on matches I use the full setup time whether it’s an 1, 1.5 or 2 hours

I regularly fish short sessions

Shortest ever was 2 fish or 2 hours fishing Broadwater a carp runs water on the Godalming ticket

From leaving the car, setting up landing two double figure carp and walking back to the car 30 mins !!!!!

Always carry rods made up so rarely more than 5 mins to first cast!

How long does it take you to set up? I went fishing this morning and spent my usual 20 minutes setting up. Just after I arrived two guys came and started setting up opposite me. It was an hour and a half from them driving in to having a line in the water and they weren‘t really setting up any more kit than me. I had my seatbox feeder arm and butt rest, side tray, rod to put together, feeder to clip on and hooklength, bowl of groundbait to mix and landing net to dip and screw the handle on. They were pole fishing with seatbox, it looked like two topkits, pole roller and sidetray and a pole sock. I am fairly efficient in the way things go together but an hour and a half? Seriously? It got me wondering how long does it take most people?
Takes me around 20 minutes too mate. And I set my rods up from scratch too.

In a match it takes me ages which is why i rush to my peg as soon as I have drawn. I like to sit for 10 minutes with a fag and a tea before the whistle so I need a good hour. It takes me even longer to pack up and I am usually the last to leave the car park.

I set up my rods and rigs from scratch, when Barbel fishing and I get there at the crack of dawn, sometimes it can take me 10 minutes to set up my rig, threading line through beads and sleeves in poor light, depending on if I 'get lucky' or not and the line goes through first time. Still only takes 20 minutes max. In a match it is more of a rush to set up multiple things.

For me it's just threading the rods that takes the time these days !!

Ready rod bags, quivers and drennan specialist 2 rod holdall has changed my fishing for the better, although I did need to buy more reels!

About 30-40 minutes depending on whether I'm feeder fishing or pole fishing. Groundbait done the night before so only needs a lick of water and riddling. Never have rods set up, always set up on the bank, and only use one at a time.

Depends on whether I’m using ready made up rods or not.

If I am using a ready made up rod (made up at home) then it’s just a case of unfolding my rod, plumbing up (if I’m using a float rod) and unfolding my chair.

However if I’m using a 3 piece rod I usually setup on the bank which because I’m an old codger with aching bones can take me from ten minutes up to about half an hour on a bad day.

About half hour. When I'm pleasure fishing, I set everything up as if I'm fishing a match. Probably a bit closer to an hour for a match as I'll also set up a pole roost & extra topkits and sorting a bigger variety of bait.

Fishing pretty much an identical setup to markywhizz and setup is 15-20 mins and I’ve got an unhooking mat pegged out in that time too.

Last Saturday I arrived on my peg around 7:45 and had a feeder in the water by 8:00
