Right then here goes.
Firstly what spieces are you going for.
2nd= whats the sea bed like where you intend to fish.
3rd=what set up are you using, rod reel, line.
Rigs,, does your local tackle shop sell ready made rigs up ???? if so why not buy a selection, pully rigs, pennel rigs, etc, then you can copy them.
The basics you need for making rigs are,
Swivels,beads,lead links,
When making rigs i always use a heavier line for the lead, for saftey, its best to be safe than sorry.
Always use a lighter line for your hook length.
Here's an easy rig to do,
Take a 3way swivel, tie it onto your mainline, connect your lead on the bottom eye with 12 inches of line, on the centre eye,put your hook length, very basic but it works,
As i suggested to you John Wilson has a good sea angling book out,it shows you in stages how to make rigs, can i suggest that you ignore the complicated rigs until you get a little more confidence in making rigs.
Lastly welcome to the world of crazy anglers, i'm sure you will enjoy it, have fun and be safe.
Saftey, make sure that you always feel safe when fishing, if you think that the water, venue is unsafe,
dont fish itno fish in the sea is worth your life, think safety first
catch me if u can
Andy,
