As I dash about the country (as well as Germany, Ireland and now USA coming up) Meeting all these great guys and catching various fish,(as well as blanking and breaking things lol) the topic often gets round to the proliferation of carp these days!

Well I have caught a few since I returned to fishing in October, but the biggest was only 8 1/2 lbs from Press Manor, so I havent produced any Pictures.
However, Way ,Way back (and from the back of the photo it was June 24th, the day before my birthday, (but don't remember the year exactly) It had to be 1979 to 1982.
Then , using 4 lb line on a feeder rod, with a 10 hook and free running legered luncheon meat, with a fairy liquid bottle top bite indicator LOL (State of the Art in those days) I caught the then Record Carp to be taken from Nanpantan Reservoir, Nr Loughborough , Leics.
I didn't know it was, and the only reason I found out was that the Bailiff was there that day,was so delighted that a 20 had come out of his water (It weighed on his Scales 20 and 1/2 lbs.) that he sent the details in to the Nottingham Evening Post, who phoned me and asked for this Photo!)
It is such a bad photo! (taken by the ex-wife!,lol) that it never was published, but the story was , so I found fame! for all of 5 seconds!
So, I thought you might like to see a young, virile and handsome!!!! Zippy (So unlike you know now LOL)with THE carp.

Have any of you other Golden Oldies an archive photo, or memory to share?

Pretty, a'int he even after 20 odd years and the record now is over 40lbs from here. I like to think it's the same fish.

Cheers

Got me wading through the album's this one Trev.
This one shows the River Mole at Esher at dawn. The date on the back is 16th June 1976,The Dawn of a new season!
Just about sums up why i love my fishing.

And this next one shows the first fish of the season (same date)
Funny looking Barbel or what!!!!!!!!!!

21 years old and loving every minute of it(shame about the Tash),Still something special about the 16th on a river though.
Couldn't get away from carp even then.

Peter that is superb! appreciated!

Those were the days my Friend,
We thought they'd never end!

Lovely evocative memories!

and Norm, I think I've still got the jumper as well as the cap! AND my 7 year old son was there! It's him I had to borrow the photo off! Proud of his old man he was.
But put your money where your mouth is! , Lets see your photo! Must be about the age when I got that one!

AND come on Geoff, Andy, John,Dave Scouse,Malc, Martin and the rest of you older MD's.
Lets show these kids what it was like when Poles were Eastern Europeans, Rivers were Matched out at weekends, and Men were Men lol

Roll those Photo's

Trev,
I have travelled over a fair bit of this world in the last 55 years, with various partners, married or otherwise, taking photgraphs of all and sundry.

I have poached trout from a reservoir feeder stream, caught sharks and groupers in the Persian Gulf, had a wonderful catch of bream from Castle Loch, Lochmaben, even more recently had a wonderful catch of fish from Bolingey, (to be repeated in May I hope) and the only photgraphs I have is the one in my profile, and one more that Ray took at Bolingey.

Whenever I have moved on I have always left everything behind. On some occassions the partnerships were bad enough without having pictorial reference to it.

So sorry, no photgraphs, but a hoard of great memories indelibly printed on my mind. No need to prove what a rubbish fisherman I am.

Hi Norm and everyone else,

If you want to include a photo on the forum it has to be stored on the web somewhere so that you can link to it. One of the easiest ways isi if you have some free web space from your internet service provider.
If so scan a photo and send it on to that then post the link on here.
Another and an easier way is if you email it to me I'll put it on our server and send you the link back

If you haven't a scanner email me.

Regards, Dave
(Gonna search my album now
)
