i've never fished any matches on therebut i have pleasure fished it loads of times. If it is the sankey bridges stretch(most matches are here) then its normally tench and the odd carp/bream that win the matches. The best tactic for tench is to fish hard up against the reeds on the far bank (between 10 and 13m depending on what peg you draw) using caster, corn meat or paste fished hard on the bottom.
The better pegs are towards the end of the strecth(oppisite end to the lock gates).
If you find the tench then you will need heavy lazys/line to stop them from bolting straight into the reeds.
