Been to Keadby Canal at Keadby basin today with my son Sam. Now some of you may remember Sam when he won his first match with a mossy Bream which despite him pulling out of it ,we still managed to scoop it in his landing net.
Well, today was a grueller......until Sam gave me a shout 'im in Dad'. When i looked round i could see the no6 elastic streching out from his pole about 4'. Mmmm what has he got i wondered , half thinking he had snagged the bottom. I went over to him and asked what bait he was on and he replied Worm. The fish was putting up a decent scrap but was tiring. Up it came and it was .....a Pike !!!! .
That was the only fish of the day for both of us and at the end of the day i weighed it at 2lb 8oz. Not bad on the pole , with 007 hooklength and very little experiance.

Well done sam.

In cold conditions the trusty worm catches a lot of fish.
