I believe the main species are roach, skimmers and chub. The canal averages 30m across and is 8 - 10 feet deep about 9m out. But I havent fished it for quite a few years. I dont remember any bans though but Pilkington AC's phone number is 01302 886126 it may pay to ask

Tim,
I came third on the day scratching for bits. The wind was blowing quite hard which meant i had to feed closer than i would have liked but was only beaten by anglers who snagged a chub tight to the far bank.Cheers for the info.
