Royal Mail scam

I’ve always considered myself very streetwise and have never been conned or duped by a scam, that was until yesterday.

Yesterday morning I paid to post a parcel using the Royal Mail online service, for whatever reason many of their options are now online only, in this case Royal Mail48.
Last night I received this text saying I had underpaid and needed to pay a further £2.99. Like a fool I clicked on the link which took me to the RM website, or so I thought, it’s a fake.

Cancelled my card immediately and have been warned to expect a call or text from fraudsters in the coming days asking me to move money because of a suspected fraud or other messages asking for more confidential info.

Looking at Google this fraud has become rife in the past few months and DPD customers have also been targeted.

Keep em peeled as Shaw Taylor use to say!

No, it now a “suspended account” 🙄

you can’t click on the link anyway, it’s a screenshot.
Thanks mate, the times we live in make me extra cautious.

Spot the mistakes.

That one is more obvious with the poor grammar and a threat in csps.

I want to lodge a formal complaint but that seems easier said than done. You have to search hard to find warning of this scam on the RM site, it should be in the front page. I assume the RM site has been hacked to allow this infiltration, it’s been going on for months now, is it impossible to block it?

As you say, warning on the RM site could be more obvious.
Little post office here has gone low-tech and has a big handwritten warning in the window and another on the counter glass.

My boss has been done with this scam big style.

He got said text. He was expecting a refund and naively clicked the link.
He then got a phone call from his bank saying we've seen a rogue transaction from your account in the region of £750.
Went through all the security business like you do. Guess what it wasn't his bank. He's been taken for £13k of three accounts. Not sure he will get any of it back as he volunteered the account information.

His real bank are doing what they can.
