rod and reel combinations

what would you consider to be the ideal combination for a rod and reel,
example, a 9 foot float rod and a shimano 2500 reel etc

whats your thoughts ?

You do well to find many 9ft float rods, but yes I'd say 2500-3000 for any float rod really.

Too many variables unfortunately to say for certain because it depends upon what i'm actually doing and the physical size/weight of things. For example a '3000' sized reel might be great waggler fishing in a lake but a 4000 might be better when fishing on a flowing river.

As said too many variables but I think 12' 1.25lb test curve rods are 'canny', at least the Greys one I've got is, and matches well with a 4000 reel for Chub and Tench leger fishing for example. If I was only going to choose one combination, I think I'd struggle to answer that.
