River Wear - Ferryham stretch?

Our Angling club has recently acquired access to the Ferryham stretch of the River Wear.

Has anyone fished this stretch (preferably recently) who can tell me what it's fishing like and offer an tips on where best to fish, what species to target, and with what method, bait, etc?
