Evening all and a very merry Christmas to you!!

Just bought a second hand Rive D36 non open leg box off a decent chap on Facebook. Collecting on Monday. Been after a Rive for a while but not the open system and not in the position to buy brand new. So this was a good shout and I don’t mind a bit of restoration work

Paid an absolute bargain for it, as it does need a bit of work doing to it. Certainly needs 2 new drawers.... that’s if I choose to have 2, might just stick with one, And a good clean.

Any advice regarding stripping these down and painting them?! I will also fit an HSP footplate cover and the new style locking clips with a red dot on. Which are the best after market hand wheels to buy?!

I currently have a frenzee FXT Match seatbox and will hybridise certainly parts for my own use.

All advice gladly welcome.

thanks
Jay

Hi jay, I’ve just been offered a rive d36 to refurb and interested to hear how you got on with yours. I’m thinking of stripping the frame back to get it blasted and the either anodised or powder coated. Did you have any probs with your refurb ?

Hi Mate,

Not bad to be fair. I didn’t strip it down and blast it etc due to cost. I just stripped it and sanded then primer and painted it. Then I bought from eBay, the HSP cover and newer locking buttons and fitted them easy enough.

No massive Issues with mine. It’s the old
Style non open system and I had to replace a couple of locking mechanisms for legs as they were shot but it’s a 5 min job with the parts.

any advice just give us a shout. Attached is a pic of how mine turned out.

Looks great nice job, do you know if you can fit the new style openning leg clamps to an older box ?

I don’t think you can due to the mechanical side of things. I wouldn’t want to anyway. Stick with the original and best version IMHO.
