Not quite as hard work(as it was already dug) as Silverfish’s pond. But after some neglect and lack of time, Charlie (son) and myself decided to revive it. The decline started 3 or 4 years ago, when I woke up one morning to find a Heron stood in the pond, downing the last of our fish.

We then got planning through to rebuild our bungalow and the pond got overgrown a hole in it, probably from some wayward building material and just general sad looking. So new liner, underlay, pump and filter were purchased, dived in and pulled all the overgrown plants out, pulled the liner out and tidied up around. Dug it a bit deeper and a bit longer, then rain stopped play last week when she got a foot of water in the bottom. Now the fruit cage is finished and the pump etc has arrived, work will commence again tomorrow. Here is a few photos of the progress so far. 9ADC8CF0-78BA-401C-A33F-AE2EB2EF6413.jpeg

Looking good, I almost miss the digging gave me plenty to do in these times of boredom haha

Have had a new job of constant leaf, petal and seed clearing the last couple days with all the wind we've had so glad we should now have 4 days of calm weather.

Bit of an update and I will post some more photos tomorrow. After a week of rain a few weeks ago, the redug pond filled up with around 10 inches of water. The result was a weeks wait for the level to fall, so we could put the new liner in. This is all now done, some thinned out plants are back in. Along with a new filter and pump. Water is in, tested and some new fish are arriving tomorrow. Photos of all this at lunchtime. So stay tuned.

Sounds good. Where did you get the fish from? First batch of mine came in about 10 days but they scheduled about 15 days second time around.

MF Aquatics in Derbyshire. Very good communication and service. I don’t think they are sending any fish out for a few weeks though now, but this is because of the courier.

Fish have arrived and are safely in. Sadly, one little chap didn’t make it. Here are a few photos

Shame you are so far away. I have loads of the iris you could have. The large one is an Asagi carp, it was the last one they had and I thought I would treat myself. The others are 4 of each blue and golden orfe, 2 golden tench, 2 green tench, 2 ghost carp, 5 shubunkin, 5 gold fish and 1 English koi. These are all quite small , 2-3 inches long. The ghost carp are slightly bigger and the koi, slight bigger again.

Yeah bit of distance there lol

You've got quite a selection then. I've just got the 9 Rudd currently but have got 5 more of them on order to make a proper shoal and plus 5 golden orfe. I'll probably then get another 5 orfe as well as I'm staggering both the cost and load on the filter at the moment. Would like a couple golden tench as well but waiting for them to be available a bit bigger as I can only find them smaller than the Rudd and orfe currently! That would get me to 26 fish at which I'll probably stop for a while. I've basically worked out that 30 fish would be a sensible maximum.
