Reel seat Replacement

I do have lots of experience replacing these but only when building or rebuilding a rod.
The problem is that the thread on the reel fitting is knackered and needs replacing. Rather than strip the rings and other whippings plus the chance of damaging the logos etc. Is it possible to replace the reel fitting from the thicker butt end along with the two duplon grips that would have to be removed to?

Unfortunately most blanks are tapered, so if you get a reel seat that will go over the end of the butt, it will need a lot of masking tape to bring the blank up to a snug fit.
Better to have to re-whip a couple of rings.
