Pre Match Preparation

How much preparation do you do prior to a match?

Tie the odd rig or two, a few hooklengths, or do you go the whole hog?

I'm sorting out a few rods and end tackle for this Friday's up and coming JJL invitation match which Maggotdrowning are fielding a team.

New line, new end tackles, no room for error or lethargy in the prep dept...

Slim to none for me,Have a feeder + Waggler rod set up, a few pole rigs and just go with the flow

Think my prep starts with looking at the latest results of the fishery if its upto date and any information I can find then try formulate a plan,

Hooks tyed up
Elastic checked

Very rare I fish matches these days, but if I fancy it I start preparing 4 or 5 days before. I find if I leave it till the last minute, I forget something.

Not much preparation for me.

2 Identical rigs for the middle, One with a band.
2 Margin Rigs, again one banded.
1 Shallow rig for silvers.
I make sure I've got a couple of hook lengths made up.
Feeder is always set up for me.

My kit is always prepared, if anything gets used or broken I replace it straight away. The last thing I want for any type of fishing session is to be compromised by lack of preparation.

Depends, sometimes I like to grab and go other times I over prepare.

I spend a couple of hours in the garage sorting my gear and bait out, and maybe make a couple of rigs.

Might make a couple of rigs up if the water is unusual (eg deeper than normal or a snag-pit) and will check over any ready made rods to make sure the end tackle is correct. Other than that, not a lot really - about an hour on a Saturday between the social club tackle shop visit and the football kicking off.

Tie a few rigs for the venue. Make some expanders up the night before. Full flask of coffee on the day is my priority. Always have a gazillion hooklengths as I don't get out much with work being busy, so I often chill out with my zt pro.. very sad I know.

Try counting how many maggots are in a pint. I find that helps.

One pint = 480 cc.
One average maggot (good quality) 15mm x 3mm x 3mm, = 135 cubic mm.
1000 / 135 = 7.4,
so 7.4 maggots to 1 cc.
7.4 x 480 = 3552 maggots to a pint.
