My apologies if details are sketchy or inaccurate but The Boss has told me of a reported phishing scam she read on Facebook.

Customer of Santander bank received a new debit card in the post. They realised that their old card was nowhere near expiry and so contacted Santander who confirmed that they had not sent out the card. Customer was advised that when "activating" the card the fraudsters would get the info they needed to gain access to the account.

I can only assume that the activation process would have divulged the PIN or other online banking access information.

As I say, I cannot confirm whether this actually happened or the details. But thought I would share just in case. It always pays to be vigilant where banking and money is concerned.
