Help, I've got about 300 to spend on a pole.
What I'm after is a 14.5m if possible, light and stiff.
Any suggestions, or can anyone suggest a decent second hand one I could go for around that price.
Cheers.

Terrier.
How are you going to be using this pole?
On commercials or canals, and what fish are you looking to target?
Do you need 14.5mtrs,or would you be better off with 13mtrs that you could add an extension to as and when funds permit?
2nd hand can be dodgy, has it been well treated?
are spares still available for it if a section breaks?
All things to take into consideration, give us a few clues and i'm sure we can come up with a few suggestions.[:D]

Three hundred quid should get you a good pole, but as Pete says what sort of fishing are you going to be doing.ie Carp, roach etc

Sorry guys.
The pole would be used for commercial fisheries, canal work. All round really.
I appreciate that most "All round poles" are slightly heavier than match poles.
So, mainly silver fish etc on canals, to carp, tench etc on commercials.
Good advice re buying second hand Peter, thanks. [;)]

Hello terrier,I think the best idea is to go along to whatever tackle shop and ask if you can set a couple up to find which one suits you best.I am a firm believer that if something feels right,it usually is.I personally dont use a pole over 13m and still do well, saying that,a lot of canals round here arent very wide anyway and most commercial waters are pretty uniform in depth.

The map is a nice tool, its no better and no worse than other poles in that price bracket.Obviously there are a few exceptions either way

At the back end of last summer i purchased a shakespeare Power play for 275 notes, 13m, 4 xtra top sections, 18 laggy. Have not yet used it much in anger, but first impressions are that my lerc 7001 will now stay in my garage, because there does not seem to be any limits with the power play and would be fine doing the little fish, canal bit, and the other end of the scale when fishing for the lumps. And because all the included top sections you can set your stall out for both, without using a 2nd pole, as i have had to do in past situations and venues. Hope this may be of some help ?
