Can anyone possibly tell me how many no8 shot make up a gram.Also which pole floats do you recommend for deep canals with a flow and for sluggish rivers approximately 10ft deep.

Hi Keith,

There are approximately 20 no.8's to the gram but this varies depending on the manufacturer and the accuracy of their production. Dinsmores are reasonably consistant.
1xSSG = 1.6 Grams
1xSA = 1.2
1xAAA = 0.8
1xBB = 0.4
1xNo1 = 0.3
1xNo4 = 0.2
1xNo6 = 0.1
1xNo8 = 0.05

As regards pole floats, I personally prefer the Drennan Carbo's as a good all rounder. Here is a link to what must be the most comprehensive range of floats on the web: www.tackleshop.co.uk/pages/polefloats1.htm use the previous and next buttons at the bottom of their page to see more.

Regards, Dave
