After having visited Bobco at the weekend and saw the pole alley they have, I was wondering if there is anywhere in the south that has a pole alley? If not, I can see a 3 hr trip to Leeds when I need to buy another pole.

Theres one in Felixstowe where they drink and smoke on Friday nights in berween a bookies and a kebab shop.
Apparently it is an actual Polish male social thing! A Polish female co worker told me this - females are house proud and dont allow gatherings in houses, pubs are to expensive, most public spaces have Asbo alchol bans - that leaves alleyways.?
Oddly the Turkish male population do the same in Ipswich near my carparking spot but eat sunflower seeds instead of drinking lager and vodka, smoke alot of fags judging by the mess!

back to subject - Benwick may have a fishing pole alleyway

Angling Direct (formerly Fosters of Birmingham) have one if that's a little closer for you

No none down south. Very little profit in top end poles. Not worth the hassle for the retailer.

I've been in tackle shops all round the country. I've never seen a pole alley to compare to Bobco's in size, numbers of poles, or range of manufacturers.

Only Stapely Angling, in it's Water Gardens heyday, came close. The only area that I might consider Bobco to be slightly lacking is in specialist/carp gear, particularly in the lack of the likes of Freespirit and Harrison based custom rods. However, as it's primarily a matchman's/general coarse shop, it's not a shock and I doubt that most customers would care.

I've only been there once and I have to agree it is most impressive, the range of poles and rods was huge!

If you`re south of London then forget it, most of the tackle shops around me don`t even sell poles and Angling Direct are always out of stock anyway.

Yeah, I'm south west of London, and similar where I am. However, I think the drive to Leeds is worth it if spending big money on a pole etc

Just a thought but, could you go to a few top match venues in your area, and maybe see some of the poles on the bank. If you ask nice they might let you hold one after the match with a rig on. You never know you might find you're interested in one, that you never considered.

Not a bad idea! Gold Valley isn't that far from me.

Wickersley Angling. Junction 1 of the M18. There's another part displaying margin poles adjacent to this.

I don't live far from Gold Valley you do have to pay to walk around lakes, they have a few poles in stock and I expect they would set a couple up for you to try. The only way to find a few poles set up around here is to go to the Big One at Farnborough. Apollo angling at Marsh farm normally have a few poles in stock but again no pole ally.
