Does your Town/Area have any quirky place names? Here in St.Helens we have a Pocket Nook and a Clock Face, which is a pit village.
Love the one in Hull;Land of Green Ginger.

There's a place just outside Durham called Pity Me

On the outskirts of Middlesbrough there's an area of Eston called California - named after the Californian gold rush, although the miners involved in the Teesside venture were looking for iron ore rather than anything more valuable.

There's lots of old Durham and Northumberland pit villages with odd names - probably due to the influx of people from all over the country who arrived in the area every time a new pit was opened.

Cockermouth is infamous now, due to the recent floods. But watching the local broadcasts, I noticed a shop called "4 Play".........in Cockermouth!

Yes, you've guessed it, they sell..............bicycles!

had to do a job in near Trimdon so looks on a map to find all next to each other ..........
Trimdon / Trimdon Grange / Trimdon Colliery / Trimdon Foundry / Trimdon Station
spent ages going round in circles finally found it after passing through a place called Deaf Hill.

Just along the road is Coxhoe which sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
