Hi MD,s

Can anybody please tell me what is the official lenght for a Pike/Zander Trace.

The reason why i ask is that i was at a certain well known venue fishing a match today.
And this guy hooked a 26lb pike, and it was not allowed because an official said his trace was to short.
I later found out that it was not the official that complained
But another angler

The PACGB say it should be at least 15ins long.
The official said it was to short
Needles to say the guy was not a happy chapy
And to add fuel to the fire he would have won the comp if allowed

Most rules for pike matches include a minimun length and breaking strain of the trace. As well as a minimum breaking strain for the line to. I dont know what the rules are for PAC matches. The matches I fish have a min of 15lb bs line. 20lb bs trace and a minimum of 15inches in length. Although I sympathise with that angler he should have been aware of the rules, the addition of a simple up trace would have solved the problem.

Stands to reason if the baits swallowed, then the nylon would lie within the mouth and be likely to get bitten through. By using a longer trace this problem isnt likely to occur.
