I have a long standing problem with moles. So much so the rear lawn was destroyed. I eventually rotavated it and the day after I finished yes you guessed it they returned.

Can any one give me a sure fire way of preventing them.

I live on the edge of a small village with open country side the other side of the rear boundary fence.

PS ultra sound devices not suitable due to my having 2 dogs. John

Hi John,

Have you thought about trapping them? Here's some info on it: http://www.growinglifestyle.com/article/s0/a56299.html

Also I believe there are some 'Pet Friendly' ultra sonics that you can get these days. Here's one according to their bumf http://www.molechaser.com/ .

Cheers, Dave

john no problem, go into garden at night armed with a headlamp and a spade, wait till you see a mole pop its head up, then whack, wallop it with the spade......lol......hope this helps

John - have a look at
http://deal.unl.edu/icwdm/handbook/handbook/allPDF/mam_d51.pdf
which is full of excellent information.

You will need the Adobe Acrobat reader to really use the document but I think it may offer to load it for you if you don't already have the program on your system.

And if you have other similar pest problems,
http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/nreos/wild/wildlife/prevent.html
has information on a wide variety (including the above one on moles).

Thanks for the advice unfortunatly ultra sonic/sound devices are not suitable. I have 2 dogs and a fishpond in the garden.

Trapping I have tried several times to no avail.

I have tried digging up or belting a mole hill as it was being built.

The dogs did manage to catch and kill 2 one night. But back they came.

I have a pro pest control calling Friday even if he catches I still need a sure fire way to stop then in the future. John

I told you when you rang me mate

1) Mix weed killer n sugar together in a copper pipe stick it in the mole hill n run like hell icon_smile_big.gif

2) Mix bleach n acids together scrape the top of the mole hill stick your fingers into the soil till you find the hole then pour the mixture in (don't breath in the fumes) icon_smile_big.gif

For more ideas watch Jasper carrots film about the mole icon_smile_big.gificon_smile_big.gif

The shotgun, torch & swivel chair is a good one

Hi John

Only Joking LOL

This is a very hard thing to sort out, I'm sure that I have heard of people putting 6-12" of compacted hard core down, and for drainage they have put in piece's of blue gas pipe.(this pipe outlasts any other type of pipe)
I know this will cost a lot of money but it does get rid of them.

My grandmother used to put rat piosen down there mounds but this was only a short term relieve from the sodding things, I hope this suggestion does help in some way.

Another way would be to concrete the area and paint it greenLOL
