I have recently been hooking and losing quite a few large perch. On seeking advise i have been told that i am using the wrong style of hook. Could someone please tell me what is the best hook to use. Hope to hear from you soon thanks

Hi Steve,

It might not be the type of hook but the size. You should be able to get away with a 14 minimum. Perch have a soft mouth despite being a predator yet the lips are very boney so you need a hook that is big enough and strong enough so that it cant pull out of the soft stuff and can penetrate the boney stuff.

I personally prefer Kamasan hooks either B520's which are a whisker barb or B611's which are barbless and have a wide gape. Of the two I prefer the B611's most and they have never let me down (so far
)

Slamo disgorgers,
the only thing to use when unhooking eels,absolutly essential bit of kit,if you don't have one get one!
