how do you go about organising a petition [?] as the local canal near me in chesterfield is about 5 miles long but only a fraction of this is open for fishing and want to get all of it open for fishing so any help in organising a petition would be very welcome .

i love catching chub

First of all find out why the areas closed to angling are closed, they may be closed due to SSI, SHI or due to a rare plant/animal being there, if there's no specific or valid reason get an idea of what you want down on paper

Print up a few copies, get them into your local tackle shops, get a few sheets on a clip board & walk the canal asking people on the bank to sign it & contact any local clubs etc who would be interested.

Ask them to tell members where they can go to sign the petition & see where it goes from there.

Good luck

Alan
